Guided Tour of Castle Courtyard and Undercroft
August 16th to 20th, 10.15am
Gain a fascinating insight into what life would have been like in the bustling courtyard of Limerick’s iconic King John’s Castle during medieval times.
Let the castle characters take you on a tour of this extensive fortress. From the blacksmith’s workshop complete with tools and weapons to the thriving portal entrance at the watergate and to the north the gatehouse where goods and supplies were delivered. Explore the siege shelters and the walkway in the remains of the Great Hall of the castle built circa 1280. Step into the sanctuary of the chapel to take a quiet moment.

A Talk & Demonstration on the History of Medieval Weaponry and Armoury.
16th-20th August, 3pm
Join our castle characters and learn all about the history and skill involved in Medieval Combat Training. Learn about the history of medieval archery and sword fighting, the armoury required and the skills involved by brave soldiers as they faced into battle during medieval times. Test your skill and accuracy and enjoy the opportunity to partake in these medieval activities.
